Commissioned Portraits

I welcome commissioned portraits! Portraiture can be a powerful gift to another person that makes a unique, personal and everlasting statement of your love and admiration. Historically,  people have commissioned portraits to celebrate important milestones in a person's life. In my commissions, I work closely with my client to reflect their hopes, dreams and accomplishments in visual form. All portraits are archivally framed by me with acid free mats and tape.  Please see the 'contact page' for my phone  and email information.

Thank you so much for the beautiful works of art. I am glad that you were able to display your diverse talents and to know that we had a small part in it. Thank you and God Bless!"

"Bernard, I love my sketch and portrait!  You have managed to capture my soul.  When I look at my portraits I can see my energy pouring through.  I can see the real me not just my image but my essence.

I had returned home to take care of my father after almost twenty years of living in Los Angeles and the house had nothing of mine in it as it was bought by my older siblings and parents when I was fifteen.  Now with my portraits up and my framed quote on what I believe to be a strong woman, my house reflects a part of me as well.  It's powerful what a piece of art can do!  Thank you, Bernard for making the family house, my home!"

These portraits of fraternal twins were painted as a pair. The girls chose the setting in the park and they made the final choice as to the pose and photo they wanted to use as a reference.

Heart’s Compass

2006 gouache, colored pencil, acrylic paint, colored paper, collage on paper 30" x 40"

“The Heart’s Compass painting is one of my favorite pieces of art I own. For the work I do with people to assist them in coming fully back to their heart AS their primary compass in their life, it’s such a vivid, powerful image that immediately & viscerally conveys an energetic hit about what’s available (not to mention that the image is in and of itself a jolt to the mind). It’s seen by dozens of people each week, and I have yet to hear anyone say anything negative about the painting…they ALL get inspired by it. Plus, as a bonus, the fact that the four cardinal directions that the heart’s breaking free from are heavily used by me in my own inner work and in the work I facilitate with men. So, it’s quite literally a beautiful, perfectly synchronistic piece of transformational art. Bernard Winter is a wonderful, exceedingly talented artist (I own another piece of his, too) whose art moves MY heart and helps set it free…for which I thank him.”
